Tactara grew out of ten years of ballroom and Latin dance practice — and an observation: even experienced dancers and teachers become uncertain at certain tempos.

Samba without a clear surdo. Slow Waltz close to Viennese Waltz. Cha-Cha-Cha at Mambo tempo. In a class, at a social, while building a lesson plan — that second of uncertainty is the point where Tactara steps in. As a second opinion, not a replacement.

The app runs entirely on the device. No server, no account, no tracking. Microphone access is used solely for real-time tempo detection — no recording, no speech recognition, no song identification.

One-time purchase, no follow-on costs.

The name is derived from the musical term Tactus — the basic pulse of a piece of music. Exactly what Tactara measures from the room sound.
